Bird of the Month
This is Lexi. Lexi is a gorgeous little Blue & Gold Macaw that came to us with many problems. Both of her legs have been broken, one of them in two different places. Neither have ever been treated. Both of her claws are severely deformed, probably a birth defect due to over breeding. Her right carpal joint has been dislocated and she was extremely malnourished. Small Birds:
Peri is a gorgeous young male parakeet with colors so bright they are almost flourescent! His adoption fee is $15.00.
We currently have several zebra finches for adoption. These were all rescued from a breeder in Alabama after he passed away. These little angels are quite active and have a sweet little singing voice. Must be adopted in pairs. Adoption fee is $10 per bird.
Medium Birds:
Indy, a white front or spectacled Amazon is now up for adoption. Indy is a 10 year old female and is one of the smaller Amazons, closer in size to most Conures than most Amazons. She is a very unique bird due to her colorations. She is also on the CITES II endangered list I believe. A great little bird to have. Her adoption fee is $400.00. Butch is an 8 year old mitred conure. He came from an unhappy situation that had him plucking his chest feathers. We haven't seen him plucking lately so hope he may get some of his feathers back in, but he may have follicle damage preventing this from happening. He is a pretty bird with bright gorgeous red markings. He is also quite a little talker and has a really good vocabulary. His adoption fee is $250.00. We also have several cockatiels in our rescue right now. Most are normal greys or pearls. Both are very healthy and extremely beautiful. These birds make a great first time bird and are fairly easy to care for. Adoption fee is $40 for normal greys and $50 for pearls. We currently have one lutino for $60.00. Mickey and Minnie are two beautiful champagne colored ringneck doves. These are the perfect birds for young kids or apartment dwellers. They are very gentle and do not bite. They are also very quiet with a soft cooing noise only. All of our doves must be adopted in pairs. Mickey and Minnie are $25.00 for the pair. Romeo and Juliette are two pure white doves of peace. These two are very gentle and very quiet. Great starter birds or birds for responsible children. They must be adopted as a pair and their adoption fee is $25.00. Daisy and Donald are two ringneck doves with beautiful tan accents. They must be adopted as a pair and their adoption fee is $25.00 for the pair. Jack and Jill are also ringneck doves with the same beautiful tan markings. They must be adopted as a pair and their adoption fee is $25.00 for the pair. Large Birds: Poncho is a gorgeous double yellow headed Amazon. She is approximately 18 years old so still has many wonderful years ahead of her. She is very curious and very social. She has always been a pet, but was not handled the last few years of her life due to her owners ill health. With a little work she ought to make quite a nice companion for anybody. Her adoption fee is $600.00. Extra Large Birds: This is Elvis, so named because of his "Blue Suede Shoe" appearance. LOL Elvis is a a beautiful fully feathered Blue and Gold Macaw. He is still a youngin at 8 years old, but through with the terrible two's. :-) His adoption fee is $700.00. Mac is a Blue and Gold Macaw who will be 9 years old this October. He is hand tamed and knows how to step up and step down. He does talk a little but has the potential to learn much more. He does have some plucking problems on his chest, but does not appear to be any follicle damage so we are hoping he will get his chest feathers back. He has been sexed and is definitley a male. His adoption fee is $700.00. This is Max. He is another Blue and Gold Macaw with a plucking problem. He actually has some of his feathers coming back in if we can just keep him from plucking any more. He has an incredibly long tail. He is hand tamed and will usually step up for just about anybody. His adoption fee is $700.00.
